About

The Full Story

Hello! I'm Meah Enya, a trainee yoga teacher, who will gain certification in December 2025.

Throughout the years of my yoga practice, the trauma and mental health difficulties I experienced in my early life made it so I found myself coming back to the mat as a place of refuge. Here, I could access healthy emotional release, and gradually developed a consistent practice in my late twenties.

Because of my background, I approach teaching with a genuine reverence and humility. I want to share it with everyone it would benefit, especially those who have found themselves warring with their own mind, as I have. I look at yoga as one medicine we may take for emotional and spiritual betterment. Growth always comes from the student themselves, and yoga has gifted us wonderful tools to realise this growth, if we would like to use them: pranayama (breathwork), asana (poses), and dhyana (meditation) being a few. My role is not to be a leader but merely an arrow which points to these tools, and to offer safe, accessible spaces where they may be harnessed.

As yoga in the West becomes unfastened from its roots, there is an increasing call for authenticity. When we detach ourselves and our practice from yogic tradition and philosophy, we miss out on the transformative nature that yoga can hold for us. Therefore, I am conscientious of creating classes which celebrate the expansiveness of authentic yoga, rather than becoming another form of escapism or performance.

In the past few decades, Western science caught up with what the East had already known: that Yoga is tremendously good for our spiritual, emotional, and mental health. While it is not a substitute for therapy, it has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to treat a dysregulated nervous system, in part because it provides a safe and ever-present way to come back to our body and breath. My hope is to cultivate community, and allow anyone a quiet space to reconnect with themselves.

Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope to find you on the mat soon.
