The Full Story
Hello! I'm Meah Enya, a yoga teacher and writer.
I discovered yoga during adolescence and knew very early on that I wanted to teach. Throughout the years of my yoga practice, the difficulties I experienced in my life made it so I found myself coming back to the mat as a place of refuge. Here, I could access healthy emotional release, gradually developing a consistent practice in my twenties. In 2025, I underwent my 200hr training with Seasonal Yoga Edinburgh.
Because of my background, I approach teaching with a genuine reverence and humility. I want to share it with everyone it would benefit, especially those who have found themselves warring with their own mind. I look at yoga as one medicine we may take for emotional and spiritual betterment. Growth always comes from the student themselves, and yoga has gifted us wonderful tools to realise this growth if we would like to use them: pranayama (breathwork), asana (poses), and dhyana (meditation) being a few. My role is to be an arrow which points to these tools, and to offer safe, accessible spaces where they may be harnessed.
As yoga in the West has become unfastened from its roots, there is an increasing call for authenticity. When we detach ourselves and our practice from yoga tradition and philosophy, we miss out on the transformative nature that yoga may hold for us. Therefore, I am conscientious of creating classes and workshops which celebrate the expansiveness of authentic yoga rather than becoming another form of escapism or performance.
In the past few decades, Western science caught up with what the East had already known: that Yoga is tremendously good for our spiritual, emotional, and mental health. While not a substitute for therapy, it has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to treat a dysregulated nervous system, in part because it provides a safe and ever-present way to come back to our body and breath. Yoga is also a tremendous way to experience a sense of community, something which is sorely needed in our individualistic times, though there are real barriers to accessing it, especially within a city. With Enya Yoga, to allow a space for all to participate I offer a range of styles for differing abilities.
My hope is to allow anyone a quiet space to reconnect with themselves.
Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope to find you on the mat soon.
